When is a Starbucks Siren not a Starbucks Siren?

KidLit authors and illustrators know well the rejuvenative power of coffee. And here is proof that the effect is almost immediate, thanks to Abe Green and the mad geniuses at Bored Panda.

“Like must of us I love coffee that dark smelly and hot thing that keep you running during the day that can only be compare whit tacos and tamales.

One day when I was waiting for a test I finish my cup of coffee and with a pen in my hand start drawing in my cup a really quick sketch that I post in my account of IG before I start my test. When I finish start looking for the messages of friends that love it and during the next days people start brining me empty cups to draw on it.

So I make a series of cups with the title of “The Secret Life of the Starbucks Siren” after that more people start asking me for special designs so that’s how the second series came out.

I believe that anything in this world is a canvas and you can use it to express yourself and in this case I use what must of the people think is garbage.”

Superheroes in Watercolor

Superheroes in watercolor by Clementine Campardou, from the mad geniuses at Bored Panda.

Sometimes, you need to kick yourself in the butt. That was true for me at least, being the panda that I am. That’s why, some two years ago, I challenged myself to paint a new picture every day, and share it with the world for free. Challenge accepted!

Today, I have published more than 500 paintings, my very own way of spreading happiness, with big splashes of color and happy shapes.

I work mostly with watercolor, I need it to be fast and I like the spontaneity of it. Sometimes paintings seem like they are moving on their own, alive, like clouds in the sky. Shapes can appear from a part you didn’t control, letting your imagination do the work, like a Rorschach test.

Beside finding the time, the challenge is to find the inspiration. Mine comes from the things that either moves me or excite me, or just blow me away. POP culture from the 80’s, movie characters, strong independent women (the real heroes), France where I’m from, or Bondi and Australia, where I live. I have a thing for Super Heroes too 🙂

Geeky Newborns Following in Their Nerdy Parents’ Footsteps

From http://www.boredpanda.com/geeky-newborn-baby-photography/

We can all pretend that a newborn’s first photoshoot is supposed to be all about the baby, or we can give in to our secret desire to dress babies as characters from our favorite fantasy and sci-fi movies, books and TV shows. It’s hard to tell who’s having more fun with these pop-culture newborn baby photos, the parents or the babies.

Before arranging such a photoshoot, just be sure that your baby is comfortable and that all of the materials being used are safe – but if you’re the parent of a newborn baby, you probably don’t have to be told that.

If you have a cute photo of your baby showing their (or their parents’) true nerdy colors, please add it to this list – and upvote your favorites, too!
